PORTRAITS
A portrait is a special collaboration between the commissioner and the artist. I care deeply that not only a physical likeness is achieved with the subject but that their personality comes through in the artwork as well. Your concept, input and feedback are integral to a successful portrait and I work with you to bring forth a portrait that you are thrilled with.
My style of contemporary impressionism when painting in oils is to use balanced colour and light to convey personality and mood. I use simple 'painterly' backgrounds that reference some important part of the subject's life and loves. The most important thing is that the subject is conveyed with both a respect to their physical likeness and the light of their own special personality. I can't wait to work with you!

STEPS TO COMISSION A PORTRAIT
STEP 1
Contact me with details about who you would like as the subject of the portrait. It could be a loved one, a leader, a person in your workplace or institution or even you! Everyone is deserving of being commemorated through art. We will also determine the ideal size of canvas. In this beginning stage, I want to learn everything I can about the subject. If I can meet them in person it is ideal, but if not I can work from photographs. I will want to hear lots of stories about this person and truly get a feeling for who they are, what they love and care about and how they think. A deposit is required to begin work on the portrait.
STEP 2
I will draw a few sketches for you to review so that we can determine the angle and shape of the pose as well as a general colour scheme. These beginning stages are very fun and your input is crucial to a final piece that you love.
