I am a Vancouver based artist and poet and teacher. I work in diverse mediums including oil, acrylic, ink as well as digital format. I find the natural world and the human experience to be my greatest sources of inspiration. I never tire of exploring various aspects of these themes in all areas of life, but especially my artistic life. I derive such tremendous satisfaction from drawing and painting that, even in the midst of busy family life, it finds its way into my days. My painting style is greatly influenced by the impressionists. My drawing style is a spontaneous response to my surroundings and experiences and I try my best to capture the place or the people as I see them. While I am mostly self taught, I have sought out and studied under various artistic mentors for whom I am very grateful. I live in Vancouver and Princeton with my husband and four children.
On March 3rd, 2018 I gave a TED talk at TEDx Stanley Park at the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Theater in Vancouver, Canada, titled 'Parenting Through Postpartum Depression. It has become a mission of mine to raise awareness on the issue of maternal mental illnesses like postpartum depression and anxiety and to end the isolation felt by so many women in the vulnerable stage of pregnancy and new motherhood. Watch my talk above and I look forward to responding to your comments on YouTube! Thanks for watching!
